yo Soy collective is centring Latin American creative voices
Yo Soy Collective provides a platform for creatives from Latin America to break creative boundaries. Since 2018, Yo Soy has been centring Latin American creative voices and curating projects for artists to create, connect and celebrate culture.
SOBREMESA
APPLICATIONS OPEN
Sobremesa (plural: sobremesas): Time spent at the table after eating; the habit of relaxing at the table after a good meal. “Sobremesa'' is a digital publication featuring recipes passed down through generations, original art works, photography and written works centred around the Latin American diaspora in Australia’s connection to food, community and stories.
There is very little record of Latin American recipes and stories of migration uplifted from an Australian perspective, despite there being a vibrant community here. Through this project, we will reclaim our recipes and showcase a different dimension of Latin American food culture through the personal stories of artists, writers and community members.
The publication will be accompanied by a video interview series about the selected artists and their recipes.
We are looking for Melbourne-based Latinx artists to be included in the first iteration of the publication. See the link in our bio for more info and to apply.
Applications close: 15 August 2024.
To apply to be part of Sobremesa, complete the application form.
